We haven't updated the blog for while but it has been work as usual down at wikitopo HQ.
The new crag pages have been online for a few weeks now, whilst we have been doing the "final" tweaks and fixes... Check out the new features!
If you visit us often then you might already be familiar with much of this but as there are now quite a few buttons We thought it would be good idea to put an introduction on here which you can refer back to whenever - and of course add your suggestions for improvement or flag up any bugs you notice.
- Arrange topos and sectors - Topos can also be arranged in the sketch map editor by adding them to a sketch map and selecting one of the "arrange" options - Less flexible but quicker!
Note that in the topos, routes are arranged left to right by default so arranging topos left to right is usually the best option unless there is a good reason for doing otherwise.
- Adjacent topos or routes -

Using the left and right arrows you can move to the adjacent topo (or route when viewing individual routes).
- Full Screen -

get a larger view of the topo without the clutter of all the other bits on this page - just a few little buttons for navigation. This is only available if you are logged in and can also be used to view individual routes.
- Drop down list of crags - The drop down contains all the other crags listed in the local area so you can hop to another crag without having to navigate up a level.
- Quick search - just what it says on the box really. This feature was well overdue.
- View individual routes - just click the route you want in the topo and a new topo will appear with just that route. The left right arrows will now go to adjacent routes instead of adjacent topos.
- Route list in a drop down - this makes it much easier to browse routes than the old vertical side bar, especially for an extensive crag like stanage where there are hundreds of routes.
- Show all routes - when viewing a single route click here to see the entire topo. Note that the the left/right arrows will now go to adjacent topos rather than adjacent routes which is handy for moving quickly across the crag.
- Sort the list alphabetically or by location - and coming soon - by grade and star rating. Sort the list alphabetically to search for a particular name or sort by location to make it easy to hop to different parts of the crag
Note: the position of a route in the list will depend on Where it is on the topo and what order the topos are in. Also note that changing the sort order of the route list will not effect the "adjacent route" buttons.
The large/full screen pages also support viewing individual routes or entire topos. When viewing one route at a time, the text description is displayed above the image, at the top of the page; when viewing all routes the descriptions are below. This is particularly useful for viewing on mobile devices. If the topos and routes have been nicely arranged you should be able to bring up any route in full screen and click the "adjacent route" arrows as you walk along the base of the crag.
